Edward "Eddie" Capps
Edward Capps, who is the author of this information packed tutorial, marched in the cymbal line with Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps for 3 years, and has taught cymbals at Spirit for 8 years. During his time at Spirit he has led the cymbal line to back to back Ensemble Championships. He elevated the status of the cymbal line to a point where they are considered among the leaders of the Corps in the areas of intensity and practice etiquette. He has also instructed at Jacksonville State University, Choctawhatchee High School, and various other marching programs in the South-Eastern United States. Edward has also consulted for and been a clinician for many other University and High School cymbal lines. Mr. Capps is currently teaching at Odyssey Percussion Theatre, Spirit Drum & Bugle Corps, and is consulting with various other groups in the Southeastern US.
Andrew "AJ" Nixon
Andrew (A.J.) Nixon, who is the Illustrator and was a Consultant for this book, marched with Suncoast Sound and Spirit of Atlanta in 1995. He then marched with Spirit in 1996, 1997, 1998, and 2000. A.J. taught with USF Marching Bulls and Teal Sound during 1999. He then instructed with Tampa Bay Thunder in 2001, Kiwanis Kavaliers in 2002, was co-instructor with me at Spirit of JSU in 2003 and 2004, and also teaches with me now at Magic for the 2005 season. A.J. has judged a few high school band shows in Nevada and from 2004 to present has: Directed and performed with Jaguars D-Line at all pre and regular season games.
